Mirror Information

This page contains information related to GNOME FTP mirrors.

How big is the GNOME FTP archive

Currently, we believe it to be around 30GB.

How much bandwidth does a mirror consume?

As you can imagine, there are a number of variables involved. Nearer release times, you'd expect to see higher traffic. Currently, we only have statistics generated from our main FTP site, which can be viewed at http://www.acc.umu.se/technical/statistics/ftp/gnome.html.en.

How do the mirrors work?

Our primary mirrors are configured to rsync any changes from our master FTP server periodically.

I have enough resources to be a GNOME mirror. How can I be one?

Drop an e-mail to gnome-sysadmin@gnome.org, requesting the rsync details. When you've successfully rsynced the repository, send another e-mail including the URL, we'll check the mirror then add it to our database of mirrors, where it will be reflected on the website.

One of the mirrors is out-of-date. Who should I contact?

Drop an e-mail to gnome-sysadmin@gnome.org, including information on the faulty mirror. We'll remove the mirror from our database, and contact the maintainer to check their configuration.
